Ethiopian Countryside

Ethiopian Countryside

Tukels

June 06, 2016 in 50 Mile Radius, Delray Beach Artist, Photography

The image before you was taken while I was living in Ethiopia. I was volunteering at an orphanage in the city of Addis Abba and we thought it would be nice to take the children for a ride in the countryside.

What you see are tukels. These are huts made out of neatly stacked grass, grain or straw and mud. Here the farmers and their families live as a cooperative. There is no electricity, running water or modern machinery there.
